Description:    

Stanford University Medical Center offers a one year ACGME-approved Clinical Neurophysiology fellowship with emphasis on Intraoperative Neurophysiologic Monitoring (IOM). The diversity and high volume of surgical cases for which IOM is routinely performed at Stanford ensure a comprehensive fellowship experience. Training in Clinical Neurophysiology also includes diagnostic EMG/nerve conduction studies in addition to the use of botulinum toxin in the treatment of neurologic disorders. Fellows are also required to participate in clinical research. Interested applicants are asked to submit an application, curriculum vitae, and three letters of reference. UC Irvine’s Department of Neurology has a 1 year Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) accredited fellowship program in Neuromuscular Medicine. The fellowship provides comprehensive training in Neuromuscular disorders including diagnosis and clinical management of inherited and acquired neuromuscular disorders (General Neuromuscular, Neuropathy, MDA, ALS and Myasthenia Gravis Clinics), training in electrodiagnostic medicine (EMG, single fiber EMG, quantitative sensory testing and autonomic testing ), as well as nerve and muscle biopsy analysis. Description:    

The Spine/Neuromuscular fellowship consists of educational, patient care, and clinical research activities. Patient care activities include 2 half-days of clinic/week and 2-3 half-days of supervised EMG/week. Educational activities include a weekly spine/neuromuscular conference, a weekly conference with orthopedic or neurosurgical colleagues regarding spine topics, and neuroradiology conferences twice per month that incorporate neurosurgery, neurology, and neuroradiology. The fellow typically attends a weekly neurology outpatient conference, grand rounds, and muscle/nerve neuropathology conference. The EMG portion of the fellowship will prepare the fellow to sit for the American Board of Electrodiagnostic Medicine certification examinations. Clinical research activities are pursued within neurology or jointly between neurology, neurosurgery, orthopedics, and neuroradiology. It is anticipated that the fellow will design, implement, and complete a clinical research project during the fellowship.
