AANEM membership is open to nonphysician technologists who are contributing to the clinical practice of electrodiagnostic and/or NM medicine and who do not and will not perform or interpret needle electromyography (EMG) studies or interpret nerve conduction studies (NCSs). Technologist members performing NCSs must be under the direction of a neurologist or physical medicine and rehabilitation (PMR) physician.  AANEM Technologist members assist with studies such as NCSs, electroencephelograms (EEGs), intraoperative monitoring (IOM), evoked potentials, polysomnography, and ultrasound.
